It’s always a special event at the Long Beach Convention Center but this is ‘The Special Event!‘ The decor was stunning and in typical Long Beach Convention Center style and taste. With 4 areas to display artistically crafted reception decor, entertaining Dj and 4 fashion shows the night kept going!
The closing party featured performances by The Drum Machine DJ from Kirschner Creative, Alter Ego, and Champagne Creative Group. It was a blast to photograph and jealous of those who got to just hang out and enjoy the whole thing.
Also in the mix you will see the Long beach Aquarium strutting it’s stuff as a fantastic location for events. Equally decorated with nooks and crannies every turn that brought food and drink.
Unforgettable…

The Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) is on the top of my list for favorite places to shoot a wedding. I was lucky when Angela and Damon came down to talk about their wedding as that was their venue of choice too. A great couple and a fantastic party. Damon is a musician and he and his band absolutely killed it at the reception. I was popping of frames like I had space to spare. Quickly realized I needed to save some for the rest of the reception.
Had an incredible time. Incredible couple, awesome location.
The Museum of Latin American Art is a SoCal destination that should not be missed if you are into art. I have been there many times and lucky for me I get to shoot there a bit too. I have photographed the founding family, the president and the event coordinator along with more than a few weddings. I really get excited when I have an event here. They run smooth and organized (and, the food is always great!)
Sarah and Russ had their wedding here. Along with a fantastic party, the ceremony was a very touching event.
Christina from The Events Boutique did her thing. As usual it was stellar. From flowers to food and keeping all of us vendors in line, she rocks!
The Betty Reckas Cultural Center is located in Long Beach and does a great job at events. Suzan and Angel chose here to have their reception after their wedding at Saint Hilary Church in Pico Rivera. Along the way we hit up El dorado Park, a place I love to get a few pictures.
Suzan and Angel are one of my all time favorite couples. The Events Boutique put together one of the most amazing receptions I have seen. There was so much going on that I really wanted to just hang out, but of course, there is work to do.
Jhoey and Patty tied the knot and I got to be there to put in into pictures. I had a blast with a fantastic couple. Jhoey and Patty’s reception was as crazy as these two! The Reef Restaurant did a fantastic job as usual. Such a beautiful spot for a wonderful wedding.
The party was started when DJ Music Unlimited’s Cesar Alas rocked the room.
New Vision provided the ever popular Photobooth.
As I take a look back at 2011 I am reminded of what an incredible year it has been. Being a wedding photographer you get to meet people from all walks of life. For a day you get to share their friends and family. I have selected a few of my favorite shots to put together this slide show and it has brought back so many fun memories for me. I get the warm and fuzzies! I had a blast doing it and I hope you enjoy it too.
Every New Year I have a few resolutions. This year I have been motivated by a close friend to try a juice fast. I am currently in the midst of it and have to say it is one of my favorite resolutions of years past. If you have chosen to partake in a New Years Resolution I hope you are well on your way to completing it. They have always been a struggle for me. lol
Many of my clients have a resolution of completing their wedding plans. If this sounds familiar I would love to help you complete yours. We have new Photo/Video packages and can recommend many other vendors.
I am honored to have been selected as one of the photographers for the Museum of Latin American Art‘s first run of their sure to be annual event, Bridal Tryouts. The museum invited 10 area photographers, make up and hair artist to give the future bride and groom an experience unlike any bridal show I have been to.
An awesome show that really gave the attendees a leg up as they were able to see the venue exactly as it would be on their special day and then they were able to get made up while the guys sampled premium liquor, cigars and kicked their feet up. After hair and make-up the couple could sit with the photographers and that’s when the fun started. We would cruise around the museum and shoot an engagement session with each couple!
If you are in need of a venue, check in with Christine at Long beach’s MOLAA!
Special thanks go out to Tina from Gypsy Zen, she had some killer candles on display. Handmade 100% soy, that had a wonderful scent. Got to bring home a citrus one that really brightens up my day. Thanks Tina! If you would like to check out her candles visit her here.

Here are a few tips for attending bridal shows:
Print labels with your name, email, contact info and wedding date. It will save your hands from writers cramp!
Create an email address specifically for your wedding, try something like marcyandjohn2012@gmail.com. That will help keep your wedding emails separate from your personal email.
You attend to gather information, but be prepared to book a favorite vendor! Bridal shows can have some great deals if you book at the show. Its also a great time to check your favorite vendors availability.
Here are some of the shots as I and my associate Matt Fukushima tagged along to capture the events of Raechelle and Jerome’s wedding day.
Our day started at the Hilton in Long Beach with one of the largest rooms I have seen this year. A lovely view and great windows makes my job easier.
Then off to the ceremony to be held at the beautiful Saint Anthony Church in Long Beach. The church itself is stunning but because Jerome has connections, we were able to go into the house next door and gt some great shots. I don’t know the history (and there sure is to be some) but I think the house was built in the early 1900’s. It was awesome to work in there.
For the reception, back to the Hilton. Jerome and Raechelle had arranged for a few comedians to get the night started off right and that with the styling of Rock, the DJ this was certainly a party group.
Congrats you guys! Thanks for letting us be a part of your day!
